Another cue to pay attention to is their voice tone. If it is high pitch or
low pitch? Sometimes it can be very distinct pitch, in this case it is not a good
idea to try matching it because it could result the opposite of rapport! If matching their
voice tone requires a slight change in your tone, then try it out. You
will be surprised at how simple this technique is.
Mirroring Method
This type of
hypnosis is called mirroring. When you are in front of a mirror and raise your
right hand your image raises it’s left hand, the same will happen when you
raise your left, your image will be mirroring what you are doing
Mirroring does not involve verbal communication, it allows a hypnotist to mirror another person's actions to develop
rapport with them. So in order to hypnotize someone subconsciously or to
develop rapport with them all you have to do is to mirror them say they sit
down with a right leg crossed, then you would sit down with your left hand
crossed, doing this makes them think you are like them and of course all this
happens subconsciously. Another way to mirror someone is to mirror their
breathing. Notice the rhythm of their breathing by their rising chest and
breathe in and out when they breathe in and out.
A way in which you can mirror another's breathing without altering your
breathing pattern is using a method called cross-over mirroring. Cross-over
mirroring is when you imitate someone’s’ rhythm, but in a different way. If you
wanted to mirror someone’s breathing using cross-over mirroring you could tap
your finger or pen using the same rhythm as their breathing.
Bear in mind that while practicing mirroring technique, you must do it in a
cautiously so the person you are trying to develop rapport with won't notice it. However it does require some
practice, doing it too quickly will get you caught and too late will not help
you establish rapport.
